BARRETT & BARRETT
Bo and Heidi Barrett have been married for more than 30 years, and have been making wine even longer. Heidi, who created cult Cabernets for Screaming Eagle and Dalla Valle in the 1980s and ‘90s, and has crafted wines for many others (including her own La Sirena label), has been dubbed the “First Lady of Wine.” Bo began his career with the legendary Chateau Montelena in 1982, launching, in the words of Robert Parker, “a 30-year track record with no duds.” But until 2008, they had never collaborated. The world of wine lovers is lucky they finally did.
Using grapes hand-selected from small sections of their Calistoga vineyards, the Barrett’s make limited-edition Cabernets that merge Heidi’s focus on perfect balance, elegance and age-worthiness and Bo’s dedication to capturing the defining characteristics of single appellations and individual vineyards. It’s a winning combination. While most producers need a vintage or two to hit their stride, Barrett & Barrett’s debut Cabernet was hailed by Wine Advocate as “impeccable from start to finish.”
